Okay, so on the 23rd of October I went to see The Wanted on their I Found You radio tour at Heart fm Bristol. They had announced the dates about a week and a half before that, and I remember being sat on the bus on the way back from College praying they would come near me. Finally after what had seemed like forever- the webpage loaded. Birmingham jumped straight out at me and I let out a shriek of excitement. Then I studied it more carefully- Bristol was way nearer and I might even be allowed to go! I checked the dates and luckily they landed in my college’s half term which was unlikely because all the other colleges in my area had theirs a week afterwards.
As soon as I got home I rang my Dad and asked if he would take a day off work to drive me down. He agreed but told me that he wasn’t promising anything. Long story short, I invited Jess and Rebecca with me and we were all definitely going!
It was a weird week as I didn’t really have time to get used to the idea and I was under the impression that something would go horribly wrong and we wouldn’t be allowed to go.
After a long and sleepless night however, the time finally came when we left the house. My Mum and my Dad both accompanied us as they were planning on going to Wales whilst we waited. They dropped us off and we were the 3rd people there. There was a road that led into and past a massive metal gate and one side of that was a tiny pavement, and the other side was a wall with plants on it. We decided to sit on the wall as waiting on the pavement would have meant going round a bend so we wouldn’t have known what was going on.
I’ll skip the boring part where we waited for 5 hours, and jump to the more interesting bit where ladys from Heart came out and gave us flags to wave! They also gave me a pen ;-)
I am holding the pen in that picture, you just can’t see it haha! Okay, so throughout the whole time waiting whenever a car came to get through the gate, everyone had to move out of the road which involved pressing themselves up against the wall and then standing back in the road when the car left again. When it got close to 3:00 (the time the boys were supposed to be arriving) security came down and told us that they were close and everyone had to completely clear the road. Then they told us we were allowed on the wall as long as out legs didn’t dangle down. This was amazing news. Their car was going to come right by us at eye level! Sure enough it was literally 2:59 and girls from around the corner began screaming. I stood up to get a better view and saw the silver Mercedes people carrier coming around the roundabout.
It drove straight past us and we all waved frantically into the back, even though there was blacked out windows and we could just see our own reflections :-(
Then the van went the other side of the big sliding gate and drove into the carpark which was ages away! We all rushed to stand by the gate and began singing Glad You Came. All of a sudden Siva appeared and began dancing to it! ah, he is so cute :D
Anyhow, then he and the others disappeared into the building and a car came. We all had to clear a space for the gate but everyone flooded back as soon as it was gone. Then we realised that because the gate slid open from the right and we were near the front of the left, it would be better if we went further back on the righthand side, so next time a car came that is what we did. And after about an hour of waiting for the gate to open, it did. That was it, no announcement, just fans running through it and into the courtyard.
My feet pounded the ground as I ran as fast as I possibly could. Soon I was stopped in my tracks though. I was met with the sight of Siva carrying Jay like a baby, and all I could think of was how short Jay looked in that position. I turned round to face Rebecca and display my shock. Then I faced back the other way and realised that I had no idea where Jiva had gone then I heard
“You alright?” Slowly I lifted my head up and saw I was standing face to face with Siva.
“Oh..My…God” I said slowly, and he laughed then turned away. As his back faced me all I could think was ‘wow I just talked to Siva, I just embarrassed myself in front of Siva, I’m touching Siva(I was being pushed into him) I love Siva’ and I just couldn’t believe it.
This had all happened in a really short space of time, so people were still coming in through the gates. This meant there was still a relatively small crowd around Jay. I stood right next to him and waited, he was taking pictures with someone. Everyone around was screaming “JAY” and grabbing his hoodie, even pulling his hat off his head! I really didn’t want to get his attention like that so I waited. I genuinely thought I wouldn’t actually get a chance to talk to him, that I would just be stood there like this forever.
When I noticed that everytime he turned around to take a picture with someone different in the circle, he would look at me and I would smile and we would have eye contact for ages. Eventually, whilst taking a picture with someone else, HE HELD MY ARM.
MAKE NO MISTAKE, HE WASN’T HOLDING IT BACK, MY ARM WAS JUST BY MY SIDE AND HE REACHED OUT HIS HAND AND GENTLY HELD IT. OK. I was thinking “oh my god oh my god, does he think I’m the girl he’s getting the picture with, is he confused?” He adjusted the position of his hand slightly, it was warm and I was dying inside but I stayed calm.
(in this picture, it is not my hand with the Sharpie pulling his hoodie, that’s the kind of way other girls were getting his attention.) Eventually, he let go of that girl and he pulled me closely into him and I got a special Jay hug. It was amazing, It lasted ages and he smelt so good and I could feel his heart beating. Then he kissed me on my cheek, and I felt how soft his stubble was.
“Thankyou” I breathed out, then I asked him for a picture.
“Of course!” He placed his warm arm gently around my shoulders as I fumbled for my phone.
I finally got it, and decided to use the front camera, seeing as then I could actually see the picture and if it turned out okay. I postitioned it and grinned.
Then I though that I might not want to smile with my teeth so I closed my mouth and quickly took another one.
Jay smiled at me.
“Nice camera skills!” He said before pulling me into ANOTHER tight hug.
This time the hug lasted for even longer. He whispered in my ear
“Yeah, I’m really good, thankyou so much” I replied. Just thinking about the fact my head was currently buried into his shoulder. “You good?” I remembered my manners.
“Fantastic tah” He said gently, releasing his grip on me, and pulling his head away. I thought that was it, but in that second, his head came towards mine and he kissed me on the cheek again. “Mwah” He said as he did it, his breath tickled my ear. I laughed and smiled because he had just made me truly happy. Then someone handed him a sign.
“that’s lovely isn’t it” I said, my voice masked by the crowd.
“It is a bit crude!” Jay was grinning and looking in my direction again. I didn’t know what to do, I was almost frozen with shock. Then I realised how much time I had spent with him, and thought I would try and meet Siva properly.
“Bye Jay, I’ll see you later” I told him, not expecting him to hear me over all the commotion.
“Yeah, see you later” He reached out and touched my arm. Then he asked if anyone had a pen. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a Sharpie which I gave to him. He proceeded to sign a girl’s chest and give it back to me with a ‘thankyou’. That was awkward as I had already said bye. I didn’t want to say it again so I walked off to find Siva. By the time I got there he had already got in the van. Same with Nathan. Tom and Kevin walked past me, and Max was being escorted off too.
Me and Rebecca stood at the back of the van and waved inside, not knowing if they could see us. Then Me Jess and Rebecca stood back on the wall, waiting for them to drive past and say bye. They left and I stood on the wall thinking about how lucky I was and how sweet Jay was.
He made a genuine special effort to make sure that I was noticed among everyone else, and he was so cute to me. Plus I was with him the entire time and I never saw him hug or kiss anyone else twice, let alone hold their arms. This is a message to everyone who hasn’t met the boys yet: I never thought I would, I thought if I did they would hate me. I definately did not expect to be one of the girls you read about that Jay gives special attention to. I’m not pretty, I’m not that funny, I’m not anything special, yet it still happened to me. Never give up guys, I waited 3 years for that moment and everything about it was incredible.
(oh, also they are so incredibly normal, it’s pretty easy not to cry until after! haha, but seriously, I thought I would faint being that close to them but they are just so lovely and down to earth, ah. They’re amazing)
